ALVIN ELCHICO

Alvin Elchico was born in San Pablo, Laguna and grew up in Talisay City, Negros Occidental. It was also in Negros where Alvin earned his degree in Mass Communications and started building a career in broadcasting.

From being an anchor of TV Patrol Bacolod in 1992, Alvin is now one of the Senior Reporters of ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs group, regularly reporting for TV Patrol World, Bandila, and ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC).

It was in 1999, when Alvin joined DZMM as news writer. The year after, he was anchor of hourly newsbreaks. Because of his charismatic Ilonggo-accented voice, it did not take long before he was offered to host various DZMM programs. He was co-anchor of Haybol Pinoy with Marah Faner-Capuyan and Gising Pilipinas with Cheryl Cosim. Presently, he anchors the highly informative weeknight program, Magandang Gabi Dok and the Saturday show Konsyumer Atbp. with Usec. Zeny Maglaya.

Alvin made history on July 27, 2003 during the Oakwood Mutiny as he was the the first media man to have entered Oakwood and for several hours, gave the public exclusive blow-by-blow accounts of the said coup attempt. It paved the way for ABS-CBN and DZMM to be the first and most credible source of information of the said event.
