FR. BEL SAN LUIS, SVD

A native of Laoag, Ilocos Norte, Fr. Isabelo "Bel San Luis SVD, he entered Christ the King Mission Seminary as a high school undergraduate. After taking up AB Philosophy in college, he moved to the Divine Word Seminary in Tagaytay for his novitiate and theologate. On September 18, 1971 he was finally ordained, and was assigned as assistant parish priest at the Immaculate Concepcion Parish in Cubao. He then became the rector of Divine Word College of Laoag. From then on, he was assigned to various parishes and seminaries in the country. At present, Fr. Bel is based in Christ the King Mission Seminary in Quezon City.

Since 1987, he has been a regular columnist for Manila Bulletin and Tempo. In 1998, Fr. Bel became the executive producer of Family TV Mass aired on IBC-13. In 2004, he started to write for The Philippine News (a weekly newspaper catering to Fil-Americans in the U.S.) He became the producer of ABS-CBN’s “The Healing TV Eucharist” in 2006. He has also authored five religious books, and has been given the Catholic Authors' Award.

To help less-privileged seminarians, Fr. Bel put up a scholarship program called “Adopt a Seminarian,” which presently supports 30 seminarians belonging to diocesan and religious seminaries.
