DAVID ORO

David Oro’s life story is an inspiring one to tell. Despite their poverty, he still managed to become a scholar at the Capitol Institute in Quezon City. After high school, he stopped schooling to help his family. He worked as a gardener, construction worker, to and promo merchandiser.

He started his career as an assistant of then TV Host and radio anchor, now vice president Noli de Castro. As a “dakilang alalay,” he would attend to Kabayan’s needs, provide his coffee and carry all his luggage and wardrobe.

Inspired by his father who was a former radio drama script writer of Flordeluna and Dear Kuya Cesar, and by his older brother who is also a radio broadcaster, David tried to develop his writing skills. Out of curiosity, he would write news items. In 1989, he became part of the TV program Magandang Gabi Bayan and worked as a production assistant and later on as writer-reporter. Years later, he applied as a Radyo Patrol reporter. Mr. Joselito Balquiedra, then vice-president of the Manila Radio Division, saw potential and hired him. The rest, as they say, is history.

David anchored the program Angulo ng mga Report in 1998, and Pulis-pulis, Kung Umaksyon Mabilis in 2002. He presently co-anchors the weekend program SOCO sa DZMM with Gus Abelgas.  David was featured and awarded “Bayaning Red Alert Award” in 2002 for rescuing a severely wounded person, and a heart attack victim. Aside from his anchoring job, David is also serves as a desk editor.

On the lighter side, David is known to DZMM listeners for his distinct and contagious laughter.
