GERRY BAJA
Gerry got his first peek of what his professional life was going to be like while still in college at the Lyceum of the Philippines. In 1989, during his junior year in college, he was hired as a news writer in DZEC of Eagle Broadcasting. He honed his skills and took advantage of the opportunity that was given to him. His perseverance paid off, as he was promoted to reporter. His first major coverage was the bloodiest and most serious coup d’etat against the Aquino administration in 1989. He went on to be a first hand observer of major and historic events in the country.
In 1995, Gerry moved to ABS-CBN. Management saw his potential as a reporter right away and after being a news writer for just two months, he got recruited as a Radyo Patrol reporter. As Radyo Patrol 25, Gerry had the run of good beats – from the House of Representatives to Defense and Malacañang. In 2000, and with his extensive field experience, he was tapped as a desk editor.
Gerry got his first crack at anchoring through the program Ito ang Radyo Patrol aired every Sunday morning, with his Dos por Dos partner, Anthony Taberna. This led to them anchoring Gising Pilipinas. During their Gising Pilipinas years, another program was developed for them – and this was the beginning of the hard hitting yet witty run of Dos por Dos.
Gerry is known for his witty remarks and sense of humor, on and off air.
