JULIUS BABAO
Consistently recognized as “Best Male Newscaster” by various award-giving bodies in the country, Julius Babao is currently one of the lead anchors of TV Patrol World alongside Karen Davila and Ted Failon; XXX with Alex Santos and Pinky Webb; and DZMM’s Magandang Morning with Julius and Tintin with her wife Christine Bersola-Babao.
With a desire to become a film director, Julius took up Film Making at the University of the Philippines Diliman. But after graduating in 1991, he found himself unemployed until he was able to get a job as production assistant for DZBB of GMA 7. After some time, he was promoted to the position of radio reporter. In 1993, he transferred to ABS-CBN as a police reporter for TV Patrol. That same year, he was tapped as pinch-hitter for Noli de Castro, both for TV Patrol and Magandang Gabi Bayan. He also anchored TV Patrol International Edition which was aired over The Filipino Channel. From 1996 to 2001, Julius hosted ABS-CBN’s top-rating morning show, Alas Singko Y Medya. In 1999, he then co-hosted the magazine show Talk TV.
Julius was awarded by the PMPC Star Awards for TV with “Best Male Newscaster” in 2008, “Best Morning Show Host” in 1999 and 2000. He is also a four-time Anak TV Awardee, being one of the country’s most admired personalities since 2004.
