ROD IZON

His being a consistent honor student and an awardee of the Outstanding Campus Journalist in his high school and college exhibited his ability to become a top-notch reporter.

In 1989, Rod Izon began working for DZMM as Radyo Patrol reporter #12. He has anchored “Gud Morning Pilipinas,” “Radyo Kritiko,” “Radyo OFW,” and currently anchors Radyo Patrol Balita Alas Dose Linggo and Ito ang Radyo Patrol with Nina Corpuz. He has received awards from different award-giving bodies for his dedication and commitment to the industry for the past 18 years.

In 2000, Rod founded the Metro Manila Radio Reporters Organization (METRRO), and is still the president of the association.

Rod, a born public servant, served his community as a youth leader. While in college, he was elected as Municipal Councilor of Abucay, Bataan and elected president of the Bataan Municipal Councilors League in 1990. He was also elected Provincial Board Member of Bataan for three consecutive terms or from 1992 to 2001. After a short respite from politics, he got elected as Provincial Board Member again from 2004 to present. He also served as acting Vice Governor of Bataan in 1995 and 1998. Rod is known for his education advocacy in his province. He sponsors scholarship programs for poor but deserving college students. He was also, at some point, a professor in a college in Bataan.

Rod loves to write. His forte was writing Tagalog fiction for Liwayway Magazine. Eventually, he became the editor of a local newspaper in Bataan and at the same time contributes to the Philippine Daily Inquirer as their Central Luzon correspondent.

Rod, known for his utmost dedication to public service, continues to lend his hand in helping our OFWs and a number of underprivileged Filipinos.
