ROSEL MANAHAN
Better known as “Miss M,” Rosel Manahan’s voice is just one of the most popular in the media industry--from TV ads and radio commercials, to phone directories, and even public transportation such as the MRT--her speaking voice has conquered almost all imaginable media we have in the country.
As a student, "Miss M" excelled in public speaking and debates. One of her best achievements was when she represented the University of the Philippines Manila Debate Circle to the Australasians Inter-Varsity Debating Championships in Canberra, Australia in 1996. She was the only Asian and female participant to reach the finals for the Public Speaking category. She was a finalist for “Best in Public Speaking” and received the 2nd “Best Speaker Award.” She also debated at the World’s Universities Debate Championship in South Africa, and for the Asian’s Championship in Malaysia.
As a broadcaster, Miss M’s advocacy is to empower the women and the youth through her programs. Her first show in DZMM was her self-titled program “Miss M.” It was not the typical midnight show about love; but rather in-depth analyses of the prevailing social problems the listeners are facing. She also hosted the legal counseling cum radio program entitled Mga Payo ni Compañero with Senator Rene Cayetano, Senator Pia Cayetano, and Atty. Danny Concepcion. The program bagged KBP’s Golden Dove Award for “Best Radio Drama Program.”
At present, she mainly anchors DZMM’s youth-oriented news magazine show entitled U-Talk 2.0, where she is joined by students from different colleges and universities.
