RUBY BERNARDO TAYAG

Ruby took up Foreign Service studies at the Lyceum of the Philippines, but her love for writing drove her to shift to Journalism.

In 1989, she started working for ABS-CBN as a news writer. Two years later, she became a Radyo Patrol Reporter and was assigned to various beats – from Police to Justice, Senate and the House of Representatives. Because of her excellence in the field, Ruby was later promoted to the position of Desk Editor and held the position for five years.

While fulfilling her duties as Desk Editor, Ruby felt that work as a Reporter was really her calling, so she asked management to put her on the field again. Her most memorable coverage was the Nida Blanca murder case. She was the only reporter who was able to enter Atlanta Tower, where the body of the veteran actress was found before the police sealed it off.

Her first anchoring job was via the Red Alert program.

On the lighter side, Ruby loves to share her gift of music through her singing. She is a very jolly person, and loves to mingle with all the DZMM staff.
