WINNIE CORDERO

Winnie Cordero is a popular movie and TV actress, host, and radio anchor. She is presently a segment host of ABS-CBN's top rating morning show, Umagang Kay Ganda and co-anchor of DZMM’s Todo-Todo Walang Preno alongside Ariel Ureta.

A Communication Arts graduate from the University of Santo Tomas, Winnie started working as a member of the pool of talents for Batibot. As a college junior, she was earning 50 pesos per script (with three to five scripts at times) and got the privilege of interacting with then popular TV icons Pong Pagong, Kiko Matsing, Madam Bola, and others.

But Winnie’s showbiz career officially started when she became part of the supporting talents of Executive Champoy, a revival of the former Champoy of Noel Trinidad and Subas Herero. With her admirable performance, she managed to win a string of career breaks on TV and in movies. On ABS-CBN, she was part of the highly successful comedy shows like Ang TV and Abangan ang Susunod na Kabanata and the children educational program, Sineskwela. She was also a cast member in the movies Crying Ladies, Mr. Suave, Wanted Perfect Mother, and Bala at Lipstick, among others.

Meanwhile, her DZMM career started in 1996 to 1997 when she talked with then DZMM anchor Joey Galvez who mentioned that DZMM needs a new voice who will join him in his new showbiz program that would be aired lunchtime entitled Showbiz Today. That time, she’s already active in the entertainment world.

Winnie said that when she got accepted at DZMM, Joey Galvez taught her things that she needed to know about radio broadcasting--from correct enunciation to listening, music and timing, to paying high respect for fellow broadcasters. After Showbiz Today, she co-anchored the programs Prrt Teka Muna (with Giselle Sanchez) and Barangay Showdown (with Martin D of 101.9).
