UNDERSECRETARY ZENY MAGLAYA
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) undersecretary and Konsyumer Atbp. co-anchor Zenaida Maglaya, or Usec Zeny as she is fondly called, graduated summa cum laude from the Ateneo de Davao University with a degree in AB Economics. She completed her Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of the Philippines.
She started her career in government in 1974 as a MASICAP scholar under the Ministry of Industry, where she was assigned in Northern Mindanao and Eastern Visayas, assisting small and medium entrepreneurs.
She has been recently assigned to the Anti-Red Tape Task Force created under EO 557. She was also appointed project manager for OTOP or One-Town, One-Product program.
She is currently the Undersecretary for the Consumer Welfare and Trade Regulation Group of the DTI. She is also the Supervising Head to six bureaus responsible for: consumer protection; product standards; accreditation; supply chain management; construction industry development, and; licensing. She concurrently heads the Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines, and represents DTI in the boards of the Philippine Ports Authority, National Housing Authority, and the Laguna Lake Development Authority.
In 2007, Usec Zeny was given Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award by the Civil Service Commission.
