FR. JERRY ORBOS
Born Agerico Orbos on October 1, 1953 at San Carlos City, Pangasinan, Fr. Jerry Orbos, SVD is not your typical parish priest whom you only get to see during Sunday masses. He remarkably evangelizes the modern world using his God-given gifts of melody, letters, wit, and humor.
Fr. Jerry is the current missionary director of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) Mission Office. He has been active in the promotion of mission awareness and in-charge of raising funds to support Filipino SVD missionaries abroad.
As a writer, Fr. Jerry has a regular Sunday column in the Philippine Daily Inquirer and has written eight books with “Moments” as his first and “Just A Moment” as his latest, which was released in 2008. His books mainly feature inspiring personal stories, anecdotes, jokes, and reflections he has shared through his 29 years in the priesthood.
As a singer and songwriter, he has launched several inspiring and heartwarming singles including his well-loved collaboration with child healer Fatima Soriano in the album “Heartfelt Moments.” Their song, “God bless you! Mama Mary loves you” is regularly played at Dr. Love Radio Show being the program’s opening number. In October, Fr. Jerry released “Oh Some Moments: Collection 1 and 2,” a two-audio CD compilation of reflections, experiences, stories, and thoughts.
In 1994, Fr. Jerry joined DZMM with the program, Paalaala Lang. He then returned to the station in 2008 via Light Moments with Fr. Jerry Orbos. According to him, he is very happy being part of DZMM because aside from its good staff, it has a wide reach to Filipino audience worldwide, giving him the opportunity to spread God’s word worldwide through TeleRadyo!
